Copper Mine Durable Lights in Democratic Republic of the Congo
Project Overview
In 2021, the DRC copper mine suspended operations for maintenance and system upgrades. Reliable lighting is critical for its smooth operation, but the original U.S.-brand LED lights failed after only 6 months, causing operational interruptions and safety risks.
Solution
The original U.S.-brand LED lights frequently failed, causing production interruptions and safety risks. To solve this problem, the mine team referred to the successful application of LSLEDS floodlights in nearby mining projects. After in-depth research and strict testing, they decided to replace the faulty lights with LSLEDS FLN series floodlights. These lights are specially designed for harsh mining environments, with sturdy housing to resist humidity, dust and mechanical impacts. They ensure stable lighting, avoid operational interruptions, and help reduce long-term operational costs.
Outcome
After the LED retrofit, LSLEDS lights are widely used in the mine. They are applied to more than 500 pieces of mining equipment. These lights have been deployed across 10 mining sites in the DRC. They reliably adapt to the harsh mining environment. They effectively support the mine’s stable operation.
